Aim and Objectives
The vision of the journal Kraieznavstvo is to present contemporary theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of demographic, economic, geographical, and socio-cultural aspects of local history, regional studies, and historical urban studies. The journal aims to foster dialogue and establish communication between civic initiatives, numerous centers dedicated to the comprehensive study of local history, the Local Historians Union of Ukraine, and the academic community.
This goal defines the following key objectives:
- to facilitate the creation of a platform that ensures interaction between leading experts, early-career researchers in the field of local history studies, and representatives of civic movements focused on collecting and promoting knowledge about specific regions of Ukraine;
- to promote the development of the international community of specialists in historical local studies, urban studies, and regional studies;
- to provide researchers with a platform for publishing the results of their scholarly work;
- as the official publication of the Local Historians Union of Ukraine, to stimulate broader public interest in exploring local heritage and to support the institutionalization of research in local history, transforming informal social practices of studying one's «small homeland» into structured academic inquiry.
