The editorial board of the journal Kraieznavstvo is committed to upholding the principles of academic integrity. Based on the results of the peer review process, the journal reserves the right to reject a manuscript if any of the following issues are detected in the text:
- Plagiarism (publication of scientific results obtained by others as if they were the author’s own research);
- Verbatim quotation of published texts of other authors without proper attribution;
- Use of illustrative material without citing the source; use of data or materials without official permission when the rights holders prohibit publication without prior consent;
- Self-plagiarism (reproduction of previously published texts by the same author without proper reference);
- Compilation or excessive citation without adequate analysis of the sources, if the amount of textual borrowing is not justified by the objectives and goals of the article;
- Incorrect citations or incomplete bibliographic information that hinder the identification of sources;
- Falsification of data and research results.
Regarding complaints related to violations of academic integrity and publication ethics, the journal Kraieznavstvo follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), specifically:
- suspicion of academic misconduct at the peer review stage;
- suspicion of academic misconduct after publication.
Procedure for handling complaints concerning violations of academic integrity and publication ethics:
- Complaints must be submitted in writing via e-mail: bazhanclio@ukr.net
- Each complaint should include:
- details of the alleged violation;
- reference to the published article;
- evidence of the violation;
- contact information of the complainant.
Complaint review process:
- Preliminary assessment by the Editor-in-Chief (7 working days);
- If necessary, an expert commission of 3–5 editorial board members may be formed;
- Request for explanation from the author(s) (response period – 10 days);
- Additional expert review (if needed);
- Final decision by the editorial board (within 30 working days from the submission of the complaint).
Possible decisions:
- dismissal of the complaint as unfounded;
- requirement to make corrections;
- publication of a correction or erratum/corrigendum;
- retraction of the article.
Confidentiality: All parties involved in the process are obliged to maintain confidentiality until a final decision is made.
