Based on the international standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE Retraction Guidelines), the editorial board of the scientific journal Kraieznavstvo establishes the grounds and procedures for the retraction of publications.
The reasons for removing a publication from scientific circulation may include: submission of false or falsified information, plagiarism or self-plagiarism, duplication of an article in multiple publications, incorrect calculations, manipulation of archival sources or research results, and undisclosed or hidden conflicts of interest.
The retraction process may be initiated by the editorial board, reviewers, authors of the article, or readers of the journal who report detected scientific misconduct or violations of academic integrity standards.
Upon receiving information about a possible violation, the journal’s editorial office registers the complaint and initiates an investigation procedure, during which independent experts are involved. The author receives an official notification and is given the opportunity to provide an explanation. All complaints and appeals regarding potential violations are considered by the editorial board impartially and confidentially.
The decision to retract a publication is made by the editorial board based on expert evaluation. Subsequently, the editorial board publishes a separate retraction notice, marks all pages of the publication with “RETRACTED,” and notifies the relevant institutions where the research was conducted.
