Chigyryk N. Resettlement of Dnieper villages in connection with the construction of the Kremenchug ReservoirAbstract: The article is devoted to the history of the construction of the Kremenchug Reservoir and its impact on the lives of the population of the Dnieper villages who were forcibly relocated to new places. The damage caused to the ecology of the region, the loss of priceless archaeological and historical and cultural monuments of national importance that fell into the flood zone are shown. It is noted that places of worship, cemeteries and burial places were destroyed, which left a deep moral trauma in people's destinies. It was concluded that the negative consequences of implementing the concept of gigantomania and ignoring the laws of nature during the construction of the Dnieper hydrocascade significantly exceeded the positive ones. The provisions and conclusions of the article are based on the documents of the State Archives of the Cherkasy Region, the archival department of the Chigyryn District State Administration, the materials of the author's field research (recollections of direct eyewitnesses and participants of the resettlement) Keywords: Kremenchutsk Reservoir, Decree of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine and the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR No. 74/33, flood basin, resettlement, destruction, archaeological monuments Author(s) citation:
